While for some patterns, you may need a cardboard base and complicated gluing, making a Christmas tree with yarn pom poms is probably the easiest.
Following 6 unique ways to make yarn Christmas tree catering to difficulty levels, state of pom pom to be used and overall design are worth watching for learning one by yourself.
I will be all along with you and explain each one differs from other and who should try one.
Like there is one Christmas tree that can be made when you don’t want trimming, one when you don’t want a cardboard base, etc. I am pretty much sure you will like them.

Way 1. Mini Yarn Christmas Tree with Beads

This yarn Christmas tree is the smallest and is very easy to do yourself. Just make a few unfinished pom poms, place one upon the other, and trim a bit, yup, that’s simple it is.
The remaining step is to decorate with beads, plastic snowflakes, and a ring as a replacement for the star at the top, which you can do as you like.
And of course, why should you end up with just a Christmas tree in one shade? Try at least three.
We Need:
- Alize Sekerim Baby 100% acrylic yarn
- Beads in many colors and snowflakes
- Scissors
Way 2. Yarn Christmas Tree without Trim
If you are not good at trimming like the mini yarn Christmas tree needed, try this tiered Christmas tree using untrimmed pom poms that also don’t need further of it.
There is also another difference, that is, the previous one used all pom poms in the layer of the same size.
This time, you only need to make pom poms of growing diameter and layer them over each other. I am pretty sure you will make it in little time.
We Need:
- Alize Sekerim Baby 100% acrylic yarn
- Small golden beads, plastic snowflakes, and a large red bead.
- Scissors and a fork

Way 3. Yarn Christmas Tree with Cardboard

Starting with a cardboard cone, this is a bit involved way of making a yarn Christmas tree, but great when you are looking for a table decoration.
I see that we are making tubes of yarn wrapped around two pencils and attaching them to the cone layer by layer. So, be mindful of the length of the yarn, pencil, and cardboard you take.
Something is so funny about this, it has cardboard legs with shoes and a small pom pom on the top. That feels like the gnome.
We Need:
- Alize Sekerim Baby 100% acrylic yarn: red, white, brown, and green.
- Scissors and a pair of pencils
- Glue gun
- A cardboard
Way 4. Yarn Wrapped Christmas Tree with Stem

This yarn Christmas tree also needs a cardboard base, but a lot easier and quicker than the way 3. Just fold a cardboard cone, take three strands of yarn together, and start gluing them around the cone from top down.
I believe it is brighter and the most elegant of the previous ones. This Christmas tree also has a small stem with brown yarn wrapped and a white pom pom base that makes it stand without support. Yup, it is easy.
We Need:
- 100% acrylic yarn: three shades of green and light brown.
- Glue gun
- A cardboard
- Beads
Way 5. Christmas Tree with Shimmer

If you want to place your yarn Christmas tree in the most busy area of your home, then make this, and your guests won’t remain uncharmed. This is again of the type that needs a cardboard base, but shines well with the sparkling golden yarn and golden snowflake at the top. The pattern must be similar to the way 1 and easy.
We Need:
- 100% acrylic yarn in green, brown.
- Shimmering thread
- Beaded flower
- Glue gun
- A cardboard
- Beads
Way 6. Colorful Yarn Christmas Tree from Yarn Blocks

This yarn Christmas tree is small and needs making small pom poms and attaching them around the cardboard base, which is this time squished to become flat. A little trimming is needed for a perfect Christmas tree look.
I hope you can better glue small parts like the stem and base stick. This one, in turn, has smaller pom poms of different colors as fairy lights.
We Need:
- 100% acrylic yarn in green, white, and brown.
- Glue gun
- A cardboard from a Tissue paper roll
- Beads
- Cardboard gum
