Ways to Craft Yarn Puppy Plushies for Kids

Even after talking about hundreds of yarn animal plushies, puppy plushies are still my favorite. They are always oh-so cute, and I can’t help but say: “One more, please”. Just recently, I have started including the towel plushies, too, and luckily, I have got a pretty irresistible idea for a towel puppy plushie.

So, let’s explore these NEW ways to craft no-knit yarn puppy plushies with step-by-step video tutorials.

All of them are poodle dog plushies, but with really creative variations. For example, see the sitting puppy, the standing puppy, the couple puppy, and more. I will highlight the technical aspects, like how the shape of a pom pom is made, how many turns are needed, or how a tissue roll is used as a base. So, let’s dive in!

Way #1: Craft A Pom POM Sitting Dog Plushie

Craft these oh-so cute sitting toy poodle puppy plushies by attaching ball and capsule pom poms. By crafting the capsule pom poms for the back legs, too, you can also make them stand. If you like the Bichon Frise, you can craft this yarn plushie in white.

I like the fringed ears, felt tongue, plastic nose, and the neck ring made from golden thread. Start with 150 wraps around 3 fingers and make 3 such wrappings.

Stack them and make a combined pom pom. This is how you can crochet a capule popom for the body. Similarly, make small and poms and assembel everything. Wanna try? Perfect for Valentine’s Day.

Way #2: Craft A Dog Plushie Decor

Let’s turn a 35 cm by 75 cm towel into cute cartoon puppy plushies with this folding method. This is a no-sew puppy plushie for placing on a desktop. There is also a pom pom nose, felt eyes, and floppy ears, which make it the cutest puppy plushie.

My favorite part is how you can make an area for placing felt tongue without needlework. The elastic bands are used to slice the towel into parts and secure them.

So, no cutting is needed. I like the beige version more than the pink version. You can actually choose any color as microfibre towels are used, which has wide color range and a nice fuzzy texture.

I won’t say this is the simplest pom pom puppy plushie since a simpler one has already been shared. Nonetheless, it is cute, pleasing to the eye, and looks like a real Toy Poodle sitting.

No worry, you are not gonna make it from yarn alone, there is a clever catch. And that is to attach the pom poms around the used cord or tissue paper roll. This clever base really saves the effort.

Anyway, this one uses a machine-washable yarn and a circular cardboard base for a pom pom. So gather everything, the little sheet, accessories, too.

Way #3: Craft A Standing Puppy Plushie

This is a big (yes, kinda bigger) standing poodle puppy plushie crafted from a hanger and yarn. This could have been a practically impossible project without the hanger, which will be bent to make a supporting sculpture for this plushie.

Just be cautious not to let any end of the hanger pop out and follow the instructions carefully. Start with a metal hanger and widen it up to 19 cm.

It is best to use a pair of pliers for bending. Hook will be used as the head base, the third for the front legs, and the other for the body and the other for the legs. Be sure to mark on the hanger these parts. Follow the tutorial for the best instructions.

Way #4: Craft Quick Puppy Plushies

If you want a tiny keychain, craft these miniature plushies using yarn, hot glue, eyes, and a chocolate egg capsule as a base for the body. It is JUST PERFECT when you are not handed enough yarn to make the body with the pom pom, too.

For this, roll and glue the yarn onto the base. For the rest of the parts, you will be using pom poms and yarn wrappings.
