One of the easiest and fastest ways to make a teddy bear keychain is by sewing together some stuffed towel hair bands. You mostly need no cutting, pattern follow-up, but a little needle sewing.
So, yes, I am going to share with you 5 ways to DIY a teddy bear from rubber bands, of course, with so many color inspirations (red, purple, parrot, yellow, white, and more) and styles (doll, keychain, no-sew, please). These are genuine ways of reusing hairbands.
These ways deserve to be viral as they are so clever and easy for non-crafters. One idea is for Christmas, also, so why not make a set out of these ideas?

Type #1: Heart Teddy Bears with Many Rubber Bands

The first way is to make a sitting teddy bear in any color holding a heart using needle sewing, some stuffing, and colorful hair bands.
Out of 10 teddy bears, the white, brown, and pink ones are the most irresistible.
Because the teddy bear is miniature, why not attach a small keyring to it? Yup, it is equally an Anniversary gift. Finish one off with a blush on the cheeks.
Colors: Pink, white, yellow, blue, navy blue, brown, beige, parrot, orange, dusty brown, along red.
We Need:
- Hair elastics
- Thread
- Cotton
- Scissors
- Making a Heart with Hair Ties
- Making a Pom-Pom Heart
Type #2: DIY Teddy Bear Dolls from Two Bands

These DIY teddy bears are also miniature, the low-sew ones, and fit well in the category of dolls. You can make it just from one large hairband for the body and head, and two small ties for the arms.
The nose is also sewn with the kawaii mouth. Yup, you can again choose from 10 colors for the band. The overall form is my favorite, like Baymax.
Colors: Orange, yellow, pink, purple, white, light brown, dark pink, parrot, blue, light blue.
We Need:
- Towel hair ties
- Needle and thread
- Synthetic fibers or cotton
- Scissors
- Two beads for eyes
Type #3: DIY Baby Teddy Bears from 1 Band

With just one towel hairband, and some thin thread, you can DIY these funny teddy bears in any of 11 colors. I am pretty sure your friend will laugh out loud. And here is the catch, you can attach a hairclip to it for gifting a girl.
The idea is to first sew both sides of the towel hairband and then make the head, arms, legs, and the head by knotting the thread. Though you may not be able to get the same teddy bear each time, try it.
We Need:
- Hair elastics
- Thread
- Cotton
- Scissors
Type #4: DIY Dressed Teddy Bears

These DIY teddy bears are a unique design and can be made in any size with the same sitting pose. The interesting thing is that you get the look of being dressed cleverly, and when you make many, you only change the color of the sweater.
You can complete it using 7 hairbands with a little sewing and some cotton. It must be a doll gift for birthdays.
We Need
- Hair elastics
- Sewing thread
- Cotton
- Scissors
Type #5: DIY Santa Bear
Christmas is just ahead, so make a set of these Christmas teddy bears wearing Santa hats. The idea will be to make the heads only so that you can use one as a pocket pet. Just needs three bands in brown, red, and white. So, you are good to go with it.
