No-Knit Yarn Plushies using Stacked-Wrapping Pom Poms
Author: Talha

A sphere pom pom is perfect for making basic custom character plushies, such as the LOVE bug I have already discussed. Let’s move to the next level with these NEW suggestions for no-knit yarn plushies, including Winnie the Pooh, Capybara, Jellyfish, and two more animals.

All of these plushies use stacked-wrapping pom poms for adding multiple colors and making different shapes. There are video tutorials for teaching you, so you are good to go.

Once you learn the clever construction of these pom poms, you can make a bicolor pom pom, a capsule, and even an egg-shaped pom pom.

This, way, you can also make legs and arms of an animal as you go, just by trimming the same pom pom. This is called the “partial knotting’ method. Afterwards, you will end up with oh-so-cute presents that are absolutely irresistible.

Suggestion #1: Craft A Pooh Plushie

Let’s craft a sitting Winnie the Pooh doll using oval pom poms with this method. We shall start with a bicolor pom pom for the body using red and yellow thick yarn. All the pom poms require stacking and joining the yarn wrappings of an equal number of turns.

This way, the sides of contact don’t contribute fibres, and we get a nice oval shape. 3 wrappings will make a longer pom pom while 2 make a shorter.

This plushie also requires customizing the trimming to get an egg, eggplant, and capsule shape for different parts. This plushie is oh-so cute, authentic, and gift-ready.

Suggestion #2: Craft A Cartoon Mouse Plushie

I always recommend making mini face plushies whenever you need a cute bag charm. This time, let’s DIY this Minnie Mouse head plushie with a really CLEVER method to make the Minnie Mouse iconic face front. There is also a polka ribbon bow on the head.

Start with two separate 130 turns in black and one in white or beige. Also, make two small 50 turns in black. Make a V with the black poms poms and tuck the white inside.

Similarly, attach the small wrappings above. This will let you have a perfect shape of Minnie Mouse’s front after trimming. By leaving the bow, you can also make a Mickey Mouse.

Suggestion #3: Craft A Pom Pom Jellyfish

I like these baby girl Jellyfish plushie a lot as they are oh-so cute and can be finished in 20 minutes. Surprisingly, the curly tentacles do not require any knitting or crocheting.

There are both curly and straight yarn strand tentacles, a puffy bottom in white, and a cute bow. You can try in aqua and blue or try in purple and hot pink, too.

A mix of white and the main color is needed for the head pom pom wrapping. Stack the three (the bottommost completely in white) and trim only the top two. Use as a car or wall hanging for summer.

Suggestion #4: Craft A Pom Pom Capybara

Finally, the authentic no-knit plushie version of the viral sensation, the sleeping capybara. I have shared plushie tutorials for capybara multiple times, but this one matches exactly with the kawaii art capybara on GIFs and stickers.

You can use it as a keychain, desk buddy, and car dashboard buddy, or with a pom pom heart as a Valentine’s Day present.

Pretty much the same as what you may find in crochet plushie ideas. Including muzzle, head, body, and legs, everything is crocheted as a single pom pom. Only attach the ears and sew the embroidery later.

Suggestion #5: Craft A Llama Plushie

This method for making a llama plushie keychain is pretty quick, easy, and can be tried in any of three colors. That is, dark brown, beige, and soil brown.

I think there must have been a little more work done on the face, like adding embroidery to the mouth and making it less bulky.

These will be standing llama plushies crafted using both the ball and oval pom poms. 50 and 30 poms with two and one finger, respectively, are needed.
