Crochet Red & Green Vertical Lacy Star Buntings
Difficulty Level: Advanced Beginner
-
Why: Although the project is small and works up quickly, it requires transitioning smoothly through five different stitch heights (from single crochet up to treble crochet and back down) within each point. Crafters also need to be comfortable working into open chain spaces, managing taller stitches with even tension, and forming a delicate picot peak at each star tip.

Difficult Stitch Tutorial: Treble Crochet (tr)
The Treble Crochet (tr) is the tallest stitch used to give this star its height and sharp, defined points:
-
Yarn over twice: Wrap the working yarn around your hook from back to front two times (you will have 3 loops on your hook).
-
Insert hook: Insert the hook into the specified ring or chain space.
-
Pull up a loop: Yarn over and pull the yarn through the space (you now have 4 loops on your hook).

-
First pull-through: Yarn over and draw through the first 2 loops on your hook (3 loops remain).
-
Second pull-through: Yarn over and draw through the next 2 loops (2 loops remain).
-
Finish the stitch: Yarn over one final time and pull through the remaining 2 loops. You have now completed one treble crochet!
