  • Why: This project works in concentric rounds that transition through distinct textures and stitch heights. Materials

  • Yarn: 3-ply yarn in two contrasting colors (Festive Red and Cream / Off-White)

  • Crochet Hook: 2.5 mm

  • Notions:

    • 1 faux pearl bead (with a hole wide enough for yarn or hook)

    • Tapestry / yarn needle (for weaving ends)

    • Scissors

Special / Complex Stitch Instructions

Popcorn Stitch (4-dc Popcorn)

  1. Work 4 double crochets (dc) all into the specified chain-1 space.

  2. Carefully pull your hook out of the working loop, leaving the loop open.

  3. Insert your hook from front to back into the top loops of the first dc worked in that group of four.

  4. Hook the dropped working loop back onto your hook and pull it completely through the first stitch.

  5. Cinch the yarn gently to pull the group together into a raised, bulbous puff, then chain to lock it in place as instructed.

Treble Crochet (tr)

  1. Yarn over twice around your hook before inserting it into the space.

  2. Insert hook into the space, yarn over, and pull up a loop (4 loops on hook).

  3. Yarn over and pull through the first 2 loops (3 loops remain).

  4. Yarn over and pull through the next 2 loops (2 loops remain).

  5. Yarn over and pull through the final 2 loops to complete the tall stitch.
