For this week’s discussion, I was left with these no-knit animal plushies that I sorted out of more than 100 plushies. Includes a cat, baby fox, sheep, owl, and a hedgehog plushie with free tutorials and also printable PDFs for a few.
You will also learn many new pom pom techniques, many of which I have discussed multiple times here. They are gift-ready for Christmas, New Year, Birthdays, Anniversaries, and baby showers. Also, small, quick, and authentic they are!
Note: This is not my first discussion on the weekly plushie series. I have already talked about the ways to craft holiday plushies, and also many animal including puppy plushies.
Suggestion #1: Craft A Cat Plushie
Isn’t it surprising that this oh-so-cute cat plushie is crafted just from pom poms? Bicolor, capsule, and stacked-wrapping poms make it possible.
I especially like the long tail of the cat and the addition of the pink felt cutout on the ears and nose. You can also craft four legs instead of the two to make a standing cat plushie. A new technique is used for legs; that is, to attach two yarn wrappings and only finish the top one.
If I had to, I would DIY the black one. It will make an irresistible wedding and Valentine’s Day gift with red ribbon.
Suggestion #2: Craft A Fox Plushie
This baby fox pom pom plushie is easy and won’t take more than 15 minutes. You can also use the orange yarn instead of the brown. A 25-page PDF tutorial is also available to download to learn the number of each wrapping and detailed instructions.
There is also a printable coloring page for the kids. For both the head and the body, you will want to make a two-color pom pom.
For the tail, craft a stacked pom pom and invest time in trimming. This is a must-have keychain for fall and spring!
Suggestion #3: Craft A Sheep Plushie
As a baby shower present, craft this chubby and cute lamb plushie using finished and unfinished pom poms. To crochet the head, start with 100 turns using beige yarn and 5 wraps of 10 turns each in white.
Not the loop wrappings from the middle and stack with the big wrapping. You will then finish only the head pom pom.
This method is also used to craft the loopy and woolly body of the lamb. For the ears, 8 wraps are needed. Also, add blush, safety beads, and thread pieces for the animal’s mouth.
Suggestion #4: Craft An Owl Plushie
This lifelike and cute, brown owl plushie can be crafted just by wrapping yarn around your fingers. Perfect for Christmas, New Year, and Thanksgiving decorations. The idea is to DIY a small log from yarn-wrapped craft wire and attach it to the owl’s authentic feet.
There is also a hanging loop idea to use it as an ornament. Crafted in one color, so it should be easy. The wings are made possible by attaching yarn wrappings instead of the pom poms. Green and black eyes are just perfect.
Suggestion #5: Craft A Hedghog Plushie
This fluffy and cute hedgehog plushie is crafted from just one joined pom pom and many small unfinished poms. Start with 150 wrappings of three shades of brown yarns for the spotted back.
For the white part, also 150 wrappings, but around two fingers. To keep the size of the head and the body different, you will make a bigger wrapping. For the complete method, watch the tutorial. Craft it for sure this summer.
