The complete DIY flower basket is made out of pipe cleaners, including the base. You can make one basket using just 21 pipe cleaners. The handle is made in the dark shade of the basket color. So, choose from the pink, blue, and green basket or make the complete set of 3.

To add a richer and more natural color, you can also add some toner in the middle of each flower. After you have gathered 18 flowers, all you have to do is glue them to make a lively DIY basket for absolute beginners. You can also use PVA glue to attach the flowers to the base. Tutorial to Craft A Spring Flower Basket

Making a small basket from pipe cleaners is a fun craft. You use pink and purple stems. First, you make many tiny flowers. You twist the stems to form petals. Then, you glue the flowers together in a long line. Next, you make a flat circle by twisting two stems into a spiral. This is the bottom of the basket. You glue the flowery line around the circle. Finally, you braid purple stems to make a handle. Glue the handle on top. Now, you have a cute basket with pretty beads on it. It is very easy and fast to do.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Create the Flowers

  1. Cut the Stems: Take a pink pipe cleaner and fold it in half. Cut it into two equal pieces.

  2. Form the Cross: Take two small pieces of pink pipe cleaner. Place them across each other to make an “X.” Twist them together in the middle so they stay joined.

  3. Make Petals: Bend each of the four ends toward the center to create a small loop, leaving a small length. Twist and bend these loops to make the petals. You will also press the remaining end flat to make a four-petal flower.

  4. Repeat: Make a total of 10 or 12 flowers following the same steps.

Step 2: Add Center Decorations

  1. Use a hot glue gun to place a small drop of glue in the center of each flower.

  2. Carefully place a silver bead on the glue. You can use the end of a marker or tweezers to press it down.

Step 3: Build the Basket Wall

  1. Glue Rows: Lay out five flowers in a row. Apply glue to the sides of the petals and stick them together.

  2. Make a Strip: Make a second row of five flowers.

  3. Join the Rows: Glue the top row to the bottom row to create a rectangular “grid” of flowers. This will be the side of your basket.

Step 4: Make the Circular Base

  1. Take two long pink pipe cleaners. First, wrap one tightly around a dowel, then twist their ends together to make one very long stem and wrap it around, too.

  2. Make a ring by gluing the ends. Follow step 1 for more pipe cleaners and just spiral the pipe cleaner inside of this ring gluing the inside with the hot glue as you go.

  3. Secure with Glue: As you roll the spiral, add small dots of glue between the layers so the base stays flat and solid.

  4. Continue until the circle is the same width as your flower strip. Cut off any extra length and glue the end down.

Step 5: Assemble the Basket Body

  1. Take your rectangular strip of flowers and wrap it into a cylinder. Glue the two ends of the strip together.

  2. Apply glue along the bottom edge of the flower cylinder.

  3. Press the cylinder onto the flat circular base you made in Step 4. Hold it for a few seconds until the glue dries.

Step 6: Make and Attach the Handle

  1. Braid the Handle: Take three purple pipe cleaners. Twist them together at one end. Braid them just like you would braid hair.

  2. Cut to Size: Cut the braid so it is about 14 cm long.

  3. Attach: Apply glue to the inside rim of the basket on one side and press one end of the handle into it. Repeat on the opposite side.

Your DIY Pipe Cleaner Basket is now complete!
