Try these Decorative Sea Shell Crafts this Summer

Welcome to another discussion on the DIY seashell momento crafts series this summer. This time, too, I will talk about almost every variation of seashell craft, from the classics such as the seashell candle holder, sand art, wall hangings, & coastal jars, to the creatives such as the seashell animal models, seashell bracelets, and seashell card decorations, and much more!Looking for kids’ favorite seashell ideas? Try the scalloped seashell bugs craft for spring, painting with seashells, and the sand art projects. These crafts use all shapes of seashells, from the scalloped and spiral to even the Round Atlantic Surf Shell. So, you have a NICE chance to use up your beach momentos.
We shall complement that with the glass jars, pearls, jute cord, sand, beach photographs, resin, and rustic wood to make NICE crafts. As for the techniques, you will learn how to attach seashells to pots, decoupage a seashell, paint seashells, make fake waterfalls, and much more. These are perfect seashell decorations for any room that leans towards a coastal theme.

Suggestion #1: Seashell Terracotta Pots

With the scalloped seashells, let’s do this elegant terracotta makeover that complements the succulent plants so well. This is actually easier than what I thought at first glance (I did not see that there was a terra cotta base!). So, all you have to do is glue the seashells all around and let them overlap a little bit.

You will want a mix of both large and smaller seashells to make these planters. Since you need so many, and you will also like the pinkish shades in them, I recommend using faux seashells.

Suggestion #2: Scallop Shell Jewelry Dish

Learn how to decoupage on a seashell with this guide, and prepare this REALLY elegant flower pattern jewelry dish out of a scallop seashell. Beyond jewelry, these dishes can serve as salt cellars, key holders, or personalized gifts for weddings and showers, too.

A large shell with a deep curve will work best for this craft. The navy blue and the gold are a classic and irresistible combo for decoupage seashell; you can also use turquoise for the pattern. This method can be done with any decorative napkin or doily to print the pattern with!

  1. Scallop shell: A medium to large shell with a deep curve works best.
  2. Decorative napkins: Chinoiserie or flower patterns are recommended; only the top printed layer is used.
  3. Mod Podge: Matte or gloss finish, depending on personal preference.
  4. Gold paint pen: Oil-based for a durable metallic rim.
  5. Paintbrush.

Suggestion #3: Seashell Resin Coasters

By upcycling jar lids with clear resin and shell chips, you can assemble these DIY seashell coasters for a coffee table. You will want to layer the pearls and beach finds to make the base over a silver-painted lid. Then, arrange the full shells over and fill with resin. You can also customize each with different shell arrangements or even a layer of sand. These are REALLY the only coasters you need to put on your coffee or juice table (whatever you prefer!) this summer.

Suggestion #4: Beachy Bathroom Decor

These sand-filled seashell jars are a part of a budget-friendly, beach bathroom makeover, completed for under $30 using items from Dollar General. You can fill it with all types of seashells, from spiral to scalloped, and it will look awesome. Try different jar sizes and shapes, from cylindrical to the water glasses. You can cover a small bath salt jar with the seashells, so this DIY decoration may actually become functional.

You can also make a frame with a humorous 8×10 bathroom printable with messages such as with the humorous phrase: “Jesus and Germs are everywhere… so wash your hands & say your prayers.”

Suggestion #4: Coastal Seashell Wreath

This seashell-covered coastal wreath is displayed on a distressed wooden sign. First, you paint and sand the wooden background. Then,  hot-glue assorted seashells onto a small grapevine wreath and attach it to the wood. I could not add this to the summer wreath series, which you should definitely check out!

Bonus Addition:

Make this REALLY elegant and life-like seashell waterfall scene decoration for your craft table. The clever use of hot glue will let us display flowing water, so there is no need for the epoxy resin. All this seashell decoration is made over a painted mason jar lid, and that makes the base look SO BEAUTIFUL!

  • Base & Structure: Cardboard or a recycled plastic bottle serves as the foundation.
  • Ocean Elements: Sea shells and pebbles are used to build the rocky terrain and water basins.
  • “Water” Material: A glue gun with multiple glue sticks is necessary to create the falls.
  • Decoration: Paint and brushes for coloring the base, along with artificial decorative plants or moss to enhance the scene.
