Learn how to crochet a big black duck doll plushie wearing a sunflower bonnet with this pattern. I am excited to share this pattern more than anything else, as it is UNIQUE in the COLOR of the duck and additions. I have named it the baby swan plushie. Since I recommend using the thin plush yarn to crochet it, even with the amigurumi yarn, you will end up with a big black duck plush. Crochet Black Duck Plushie: Row-by-Row Pattern
You will crochet the main body and head using deep black yarn with an orange beak and feet. A yellow flower crown makes it look REALLY beautiful.
You will need basic crochet stitches. Below is the full pattern to crochet this duck plushie:
Materials
- Milk cotton or thin plush yarn in Black, Orange, Lemon Yellow, and Brown
- Scrap brown yarn
- 2.5 mm crochet hook
- 5 mm safety eyes
- Fiberfill stuffing
- Yarn needle and stitch markers
- Scissors and craft glue

Crochet the Head
Use black yarn. Work in rounds, joining each round with a sl st and chaining 1 to start the next round.
R1: 8 sc in MR (8).
R2: 8 inc (16).
R3: (1 sc, 1 inc) * 8 (24).
R4: 24 sc (24).
R5: (1 sc, 1 inc, 1 sc) * 8 (32).
R6–R10: 32 sc around for 5 rounds (32).
R11: 8 sc, 4 inc, 7 sc, 4 inc, 9 sc (40).

Crochet the Body
Use black yarn. Follow the same join-and-chain method used for the head.
R1: 7 sc in MR (7).
R2: 7 inc (14).
R3: (1 sc, 1 inc) * 7 (21).
R4: (1 sc, 1 inc, 1 sc) * 7 (28).
R5–R9: 28 sc around for 5 rounds (28).
R10: (1 sc, 1 dec, 1 sc) * 7 (21).
R11: (1 sc, 1 dec) * 7 (14). Fasten off and pack the body piece tightly with fiberfill.
Crochet the Wings (Make 2)
Use black yarn. These are worked in a continuous spiral without joining the rounds.
R1: 6 sc in MR (6).
R2: (1 sc, 1 inc) * 3 (9).
R3–R5: 9 sc around for 3 rounds (9). Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing. Do not stuff these pieces.
Crochet the Legs (Make 2)
Use orange yarn. Work in a continuous spiral.
R1: 6 sc in MR (6).
R2–R4: 6 sc around for 3 rounds (6).
R5: (1 sc, 1 dec) * 2 (4). Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
Crochet the Beak
Use orange yarn to create a flat duck bill. Chain 5. Starting in the second chain from your hook, work 3 sc, then do 1 inc in the very last chain stitch. Turn the piece around to work along the opposite side of your starting chain, making 1 sc followed by 1 inc. Fasten off.
Crochet the Flower Wreath
Use lemon yellow yarn to make 10 individual petals.
For each petal, work:
R1: 6 sc in MR (6).
R2: (1 sc, 1 inc) * 3 (9).
R3: (2 sc, 1 inc) * 3 (12).
R4: 12 sc (12).
R5: (1 sc, 1 dec) * 4 (8).
Fasten off the first 9 petals, but keep the yarn attached to the 10th one. Flatten each petal and single crochet through both layers using 4 sc to seal them closed, joining all 10 petals in a row as you go.
Switch to brown yarn, leave a long tail before starting, and work 40 slip stitches along the bottom edge of your connected petals to form the band. Leave a long tail on the other side for tying.
Crochet the Flower Bag
Start with brown yarn for the bag center.
R1: 5 sc in MR, join with a sl st and ch 1 (5).
R2: 5 inc, sl st to join (10). Switch to lemon yellow yarn for the petals.
R3: Chain 3, then work a 5-dc bobble stitch into that same space.
Chain 3 and slip stitch into the next stitch. Repeat this sequence 5 times across the round to make 5 full petals.
Fasten off yellow. Attach brown yarn to one side of the flower blossom, chain a strap long enough to loop across the duck’s chest, and anchor it to the opposite side of the flower.
Assemble the Duck
Use your yarn needle to sew the head securely onto the body opening. Attach the wings symmetrically to the sides of the body, right between rounds 9 and 10. Sew the orange feet onto the bottom of the body between rounds 2 and 3. Secure the 5mm safety eyes onto the face, spacing them roughly 4 stitches apart.
Glue or sew the orange beak directly between the eyes. Wrap the flower crown around the head, tie it in place using the brown yarn tails, and drape the miniature bag over its shoulder to finish.
