I have lately talked about more than thirteen MIXED ocean crafts. Now, I will share my suggestion for only the ocean animal crafts that you can craft this summer. Included more paper toy crafts, this time, such as the jumping octopus, rocking whale, and moving shark, and more.
Also, recycling and upcycling crafts such as an egg carton crab and a lid jar fish. Kids can learn Q-tip painting, pipe cleaner crafting, basic origami, and my favorite fold-and-cut method, too. So, this craft discussion is gonna be one-of-a-kind!
Suggestion #1: Paper Octopus
This kawaii octopus craft has 5 paper chain arms that make it a cute hanging for the window near your craft table. The chains will wave nicely with the wind, and their smile will keep the little ones in a good mood.
For the eyes, blush, and eyebrows, there is a FREE downloadable template. Just print and cut from the white paper and attach to the octopus face base. You can also craft 8 arms just like the blue version.
Suggestion #2: Bowl Jellyfish
Let’s craft a beautiful Jellyfish car hanger using a paper bowl and paper with this method. You can craft it in pink, blue, purple, or whatever color you prefer with different shapes of Jellyfish spots. Secure the hanging with a button inside.
Crafting should be simple and easy. Just be sure not to break the plate while making a hole for the hanging string. A paintbrush and watercolors are required for coloring. It can bring an “under-the-sea” feel into your home if you use it as a roof hanger.
Suggestion #3: Plate Fish
This googly-eyed paper plate clownfish looks oh-so cute and ends up and ends useable plate. The reason is that only one small V cut from the body plate is needed for the mouth. For the fins and the tail, we shall take cutouts from another plate.
Start by painting the plate in orange using acrylic paint. Then outline the stripes with a sketch pencil, paint in white, and outline again with a black acrylic marker. A clever choice is to take cutouts from the edges of the plate for the fins and the tail.
Suggestion #4: Octopus Toy
Looking for a fun and oh-so cute paper fidget toy? Craft this kawaii octopus jumping toy from a 21 cm by 21 cm square sheet in yellow and a strip of white paper. It requires proper preliminary marking before cutting the curly arms.
The recommended width for each arm is 1.5cm, and the height is about 14cm. You can, however, make the arms less curly. Finish it off with chevron spots and kawaii eye cutouts.
Suggestion #5: Rocking Paper Crafts
This is a collection of four cute ocean paper crafts, including a pufferfish, a whale, a ship, and a rainbow goldfish. All of them are designed as rocking toys from an 11cm by 11cm circle cutout. To begin with, first, you will fold the circle in half. The remaining steps are just to attach the cutouts.
Suggestion #6: Shark Toy
This “origami with scissors” 3D shark craft is fun to play with and oh-so cute. When you wiggle your arms holding it from the tail and the bottom mouth, the shark’s body will also wiggle, just like it is “swimming.” That’s why it is named a “moving shark paper toy” and my 100% suggestion for gifting to little ones.
The technique used to make it a kinetic toy is to make many parallel cuts from the folded edge to the open edges and stop before you reach the end. Requires the Kite Base.
Suggestion #7: Egg Carton Crab Craft
The last “egg carton recycling craft” I talked about was a whale craft. But definitely, you can craft any other sea creature just like this easy googly-eyed red crab. A cup from an egg carton is required to cut and paint in red using the washable paint.
My favorite part is how red pipe cleaners will be used to make the crab claws and the legs. After the paint is dry, poke small holes on each side to insert pipe cleaners.
Suggestion #8: Pipe Cleaner Jellyfish Tutorial
I have been waiting to talk about this rainbow Jellyfish keychain since mid-winter. Finally, it’s summer, so let’s craft this kawaii baby Jellyfish with colorful curly tentacles using just pipe cleaners.
Requires four colors: yellow, blue, pink, and purple. This is actually a Chibi Jellyfish, so the head is about the same height as the tentacle length. Only two bending patterns are needed.
Suggestion #9: Paper Star Fish Craft
These 3D starfish are crafted from a variation of the traditional “fold-and-cut” paper star. So, it should be an easy and summer activity. The folding method is the same, but you will outline and cut the scalloped edges in the cutting step.
You can also use a pinking scissor for accurate results. These starfish are perfect for a sand art project. Finish by adding dots using a pointer or a marker.
Suggestion #10: Easy Pipe Cleaner Octopus
These itty-bitty pipe cleaner octopuses are simply adorable and can be learned in less than 2 minutes! Craft with a pipe cleaner sprout, a tiny pom-pom, and a thread cherry. The one you will learn measures smaller than 3 inches.
So, I recommend using a styrofoam ball base for the octopus body and a pom pom base for the tentacles. Originally, for the body, tiny pom is used as a base, and for the arms, nothing!
Suggestion #11: Jar Lid Fishes
Looking for a colorful and more-in-1 summer activity? Let’s DIY these artistic fish crafts, including goldfish, pufferfish, and a Q-tip-painted custom fish.
By upcycling jar lids as bases and sound material, you can turn them into hanging noise makers, shakers, rattles, or a fish game with a magnet. I recommend crafting all four ideas!
