Last time, you learned how to DIY a pipe cleaner spider plush! But to best decorate for Halloween, you need a small home for the crawl – the spiderweb. So, in this tutorial, you will learn how to make a pipe cleaner spiderweb in purple (well, you can choose black, too) in any size. This method will make a hexagonal spider web pattern; so by changing the size of the base pipe cleaners, you can make it any bigger. Craft it as a table mat, spooky costume charm, and wall decoration.

In this tutorial, along with the spiderweb plush, I have also provided the pattern to make the pipe cleaner pumpkin plush + the googly-eyed spider plush.

Both the pumpkin and the DIY Halloween spider are easy to DIY as well. You can also make a round spiderweb just like the paper spiderweb by bending each new pipe cleaner you weave around the base spiderweb pipe cleaners. Craft 1: Miniature Pipe Cleaner Pumpkins

Materials:

• 2 Orange pipe cleaners (30cm each)

• 1 Green pipe cleaner (15cm)

• A pen or marker (to use as a mandrel)

• Scissors

Instructions:

1. Coil the Body: Take one orange pipe cleaner and wrap it tightly around the barrel of a pen to create a long, spring-like coil. Slide it off. Repeat this with the second orange pipe cleaner so you have two identical coils.

2. Thread the Stem: Insert the green pipe cleaner through the center of both orange coils.

3. Form the Shape: Bend the orange coils into a circular shape until the two ends of the “spring” meet.

4. Secure the Stem: Pull the green pipe cleaner tight and twist its ends together to lock the orange coils into a round pumpkin shape.

5. Finish the Top: Cut off any excess green pipe cleaner, leaving about 2-3cm. Give it a slight curl or twist to resemble a pumpkin stem.

6. Fluff and Adjust: Gently adjust the orange coils to ensure the pumpkin looks full and symmetrical.

Craft 2: The Purple Spider Web

Materials:

• 3 Purple pipe cleaners (20cm each)

• 1 Purple pipe cleaner (30cm)

• 1 Purple pipe cleaner (40cm)

• Scissors

Instructions:

• Create the Frame: Take the three 20cm pipe cleaners. Bundle them together and twist them tightly in the exact center. Spread the ends out evenly to form a 6-pointed star. This is the foundation of your web.

• Weave the Inner Web: Take the 30cm pipe cleaner. Start near the center of the star. Wrap it once around one arm, then move to the next arm and wrap it once. Continue this “wrap-and-move” process in a circle to create the inner concentric ring.

• Weave the Outer Web: Take the 40cm pipe cleaner and repeat the process further out on the arms to create a larger outer ring.

• Finish: Once you reach the end, twist the final bit of pipe cleaner onto the arm to secure it. Trim any excess “arm” length if desired.

Craft 3: The Creepy Crawler Spider

Materials:

• 4 Black pipe cleaners (15cm each)

• 1 Black pipe cleaner (30cm)

• 1 Black pipe cleaner (15cm)

• Googly eyes

• Hot glue gun

Instructions:

1. Form the Legs: Take the four 15cm black pipe cleaners. Bundle them together and twist them in the middle to create 8 radiating legs.

2. Shape the Joints: Bend each leg downward about halfway through its length to create a realistic “jointed” look.

3. Create the Body: Take the 30cm black pipe cleaner and coil it tightly into a flat, round disc. Use a dab of hot glue at the end to keep it from unravelling.

4. Create the Head: Repeat the coiling process with the 15cm black pipe cleaner to make a smaller disc.

5. Assemble the Spider:

   • Glue the large “body” disc onto the center point where the legs are twisted together.

   • Glue the smaller “head” disc to the front edge of the body.

6. Add Eyes: Glue two googly eyes onto the front of the head disc to complete your spider.

General Crafting Tips:

• Tension: When coiling pipe cleaners around a pen or making a web, keep the tension consistent for a neater look.

• Safety: Always supervise children when using a hot glue gun.

• Customization: Feel free to mix colors! You can make white webs or multi-colored spiders for a more whimsical look.
