Learn an easy & quick method to DIY a fall mushroom plushie out of pipe cleaners with this step-by-step tutorial. This method makes a lifelike toadstool mushroom, finished with the pipe cleaner spots white on its cap and a lifelike stem! You can use it as a Christmas or fall ornament, keychain, and even add it to a decoration pot! You can easily make this chenille stem mushroom plush within 15 minutes.
Just like the yarn mushroom plush, you can also make a wild mushroom version by using a light brown pipe cleaner for the cap. This way, you also won’t have to use the white pipe cleaner scraps for adding the toadstool spots.
This pipe cleaner mushroom is also a last-minute LOVE present and a jewelry holder once you make a pipe cleaner dish. I have already shared 2 tutorials for making the fall mushroom potted plants. You can also make one by making mushrooms of different colors and sizes along with the leaves. Anyway, continue reading to learn how to make this pipe cleaner mini mushroom in detail!

DIY Quick Pipe Cleaner Toadstool Tutorial
Skill level: Intermediate (joining pipe cleaners, twisting and more).
You will start with the wine-red pipe cleaners to make the mushroom cap! Take one pipe cleaner as a base and the other as a wrapping yarn to make the base for the mushroom cap! Leave about 1 cm on the left and position it horizontally; you will wrap the 2nd pipe cleaner vertically around it twice to secure it!

Then, you will make 3cm long compressed loops, and each time you make a loop, you will secure it by wrapping the pipe cleaner around twice. You will need multiple pipe cleaners, and you will continue doing so until you have about 13 long structure.
Through the bottom sides of the loops, you will pass a long pipe cleaner and let its ends meet, making a circular disk. You will also want to push below around the middle to make a cone shape. That’s how you make the pipe cleaner cap for the mushroom!

To make the bottom of the cap, you will use beige pipe cleaner and zig-zag it all around, making a similar structure! You will then turn it into a disk and tuck in the cone. Now, if you want to learn making the pipe cleaner stem, please refer to the video tutorial that is step-by-step and super detailed!
