In this weekly crochet discussion, I’ll talk about “ALL the POPULAR” variations of crochet beach tote bags and share FREE PATTERNS for each one. There are three main categories I like to divide vintage, classic, and even modern tote bags into.
Those are the granny square, mesh, and alternating stitch pattern tote bags. Each one has its charm and uses, and I’m gonna share the best designs with written, ad-free PDF patterns and video tutorials for all in this curation.

You can learn many NEW handle types from the romanion cord to I-cord, single crochet handle. For professionals, finishing many of them also includes store-bought leather handles. Clever options I included are the sling tote bags and drawstring tote bags, too.
For mesh bags in particular, two strands of yarn will be used. As for the granny square, they make the largest portion of tote bags, from classic granny square bags to sunburst and an entirely new square variation. With that said, let’s talk!

Suggestion #1: Granny Square Bag

I can’t imagine a crochet tote bag curation without the classic granny square tote bag. Try this FREE pattern to crochet a colorful striped granny square bag from thirteen squares with a tubular rope handle.
The squares are sewn in diamond positions using the intermediate “join-as-you-go” (JAYGO) method for a seamless assembly.
