While all the “toilet paper crafts” I have discussed so far are for summer vacations, today, I will suggest only those with summer themes. Those will be the ocean scenes, sea creatures, summer fruits, and more. So, let’s try these REALLY creative summer toilet paper roll crafts with preschoolers.
You can also use a towel roll, a cardboard roll, and a handmade paper roll for these crafts. This time, I have curated fewer of the crafts that need PDF templates, which make them customizable and more fun. They might also require paper plates, colored tissue papers, cardstock (usage status: high), paint, and craft googly eyes.
While I have tried to include no-paint cardstock-covered roll crafts, it will definitely be more fun to paint a roll. Choose from tissue paper pencil holders, puppets, toys, 3D drawings, and more, here. As for the themes, rocket, jellyfish, octopus, ladybug, rainbow, lighthouse, ocean, and many more. So, let’s talk!
Suggestion #1: Paper Roll Rocket Craft

This tissue paper roll rocket with colorful circle windows will make a PERFECT party favour, pencil color holder, or an imaginative toy by default. Kids can make it from either the towel tube or a toilet paper roll, depending on whether they want a longer or shorter rocket.
Requires painting the cardboard tube and attaching a rolled paper cone as the nose. Also, slot crisscrossed cardstock triangles to balance the rocket on the craft table.
Suggestion #2: Paper Roll Crab Craft

Let’s craft a funny, cute, and simple toilet paper roll crab and stationery holder with this method. There is no Printable template for the crab claws and legs, as they are not difficult to sketch.
No painting is needed; just wrap the roll with red cardstock, draw the moth, attach eye stickers, and add claws and legs in the back. Kids can also make it in an even simpler way!
Suggestion #3: Rainbow Windsock Toilet Paper Roll Craft

As the rain ends, kids can make and hang this smiling cloud and rainbow windspinner outside! This is more of colored tissue paper and cardstock craft than a toilet paper roll craft.
She calls it a “windsock” as the light tissue paper strips hanging below will swirl in the breeze, and it will spin due to the hanging string. Made around a painted tissue paper roll!

Suggestion #4: Lighthouse Paper Plate and Cardboard Roll Craft

This 3D lighthouse scene made on a paper plate is so BEAUTIFUL, BRIGHT, and clever. Requires recycled materials like paper plates, cardboard rolls, and a small cardstock cutout.
We shall make a striped lighthouse topped with a paper cone roof and glue it onto the painted scene, which has a sun, beach, ocean, clouds, and birds. The best wall drawing, it would be!

Suggestion #5: Mermaid Toilet Paper Roll Craft

With a FREE printable template, learn how to embellish a cardboard roll with the prettiest baby mermaids to make an oh-so cute pencil holder for girls. They make it with colored cardstock or color with crayon, the mermaid directly. The idea is to just glue the assembled full mermaid onto a tissue paper roll.
This makes it a quick and easy activity and “roll makeover” craft. Unlike the other buddy crafts, you don’t have to use the roll as the body of a mermaid. So, it ends up PERFECT!
Suggestion #6: Paper Roll Peacock Craft

Let’s make a cute sitting paper peacock using a tissue paper roll and strips of colored paper with this method. Requires wrapping a paper roll in blue paper for the body and attaching many looped paper strips to make a full tail.
Paint as many as you can until you have a nice, fluffy tail. Also attach simple paper cutouts for the beak and feet, and googly stickers. It would be a kinda playful toy for both spring and summer.
Suggestion #7: Bee Toilet Paper Roll Craft

DIY this buzzing bee toilet paper craft using colored cardstock and a printable template. Wrapping the strips of black cardstock will be much easier and FUN for the kids. The template actually contains thickened circular arcs as the bee strips.
Just glue on the rectangle and then wrap the toilet paper around. Two versions for the face are available: that is smiling and kawaii eyes. Wing attachment requires folding it and then gluing the whole area. This will secure them perfectly.
Suggestion #8: Watermelon and Pineapple Toilet Paper Roll Crafts

Craft these simple tropical fruit chevron holders in 10-minutes by recycling just one tissue paper roll. The watermelon holder is easier, as you will only want to cover the halved paper roll in pink Tant paper, add a green stripe, and hand-draw the seeds and rind texture.
The pineapple holder is more like a summer decoration, as you will want to attach a leaf cutout on the top. Either way, it’s a REALLY fun summer activity for preschoolers.

Suggestion #9: Toilet Paper Roll Octopus Craft

Tissue paper roll octopus FEW of the first paper roll projects that pop up in mind. This time, I have this simple, smiling octopus made using orange pepper, googly eye stickers, and glue, in addition to a toilet paper roll.
Just cut eight hand-curled paper strips and attach them to the base to make the arms. You can also make a 2nd version that has BIG eyes and a wider smile to make it funny!
Suggestion #10: Cardboard Tube Jellyfish Craft

Make this hanging googly-eyed jellyfish craft using a cardboard tube, a half Styrofoam ball, and craft googly eyes. For the hanging loop, a pipe cleaner is used, and the styrofoam ball is painted, too.
Below the head, cut scrape-paint paper into strips, curl them, and attach them to make the tentacles.

Suggestion #14: Humpback Whale Toilet Paper Roll Craft
