Tutorial to Make A Quirky Spider Ghost Yarn Plushie
Today, we are making a spider plushie for beginners. We shall wrap black yarn around three fingers about 150 times to create a thick bundle. Slide it off carefully and tie the center tightly with a separate piece of yarn using a double knot. Cut the loops on both sides, then trim the yarn evenly until it forms a round, fluffy pom-pom.
Bend four red pipe cleaners in half and shape the ends into small feet to make eight legs.
Glue the pipe cleaners into the sides of the pom-pom, spacing them evenly for balance. Finally, glue two googly eyes onto the front. Fluff the yarn, adjust the legs, and your spider is ready.

Step 1: Make the Pom-Pom Body
Wrap black yarn around your index, middle, and ring fingers about 150 times. Keep the wraps firm but not too tight. More wraps make the pom-pom fuller and softer.
Cut the yarn from the ball. Carefully slide the bundle off your fingers without letting it fall apart. Cut an 8-inch piece of yarn and tie it tightly around the center of the bundle. Pull as hard as you can and secure it with a double or triple knot. A tight center keeps the pom-pom strong.
Cut all the loops on both sides of the center knot. The bundle will look messy at first.
Trim the long ends with scissors. Turn the pom-pom as you trim so every side is even. Keep trimming until you have a dense, round ball. Avoid cutting the center knot.
Step 2: Make the Legs
Take the four red pipe cleaners. Bend each one in half to form a V shape. Bend each end again about 1 inch from the tip to make small feet. This creates bent legs that help the spider stand. Four pipe cleaners give you eight legs.
Step 3: Attach the Legs
Heat the hot glue gun.
Find the middle of the pom-pom. Add hot glue to the center bend of one pipe cleaner and push it deep into the yarn toward the center knot. Repeat with the second pipe cleaner on the same side.
Attach the other two pipe cleaners on the opposite side. Spread the legs evenly so the spider stands without tipping over. Bend the legs as needed until it sits flat.
Step 4: Add the Eyes
Choose the front of the spider. Separate the yarn slightly to make a small flat spot.
Add a small dot of hot glue for each googly eye and press them into the yarn. Hold them for a few seconds until the glue sets.
Final Touches
Once the glue cools, gently shake and fluff the yarn around the legs. Shape the body with your hands if needed.
