Crochet Reversible Sunflower Water Bottle Holder: Written Instructions
This project makes a water bottle holder that can also be folded up to look like a sunflower bouquet pouch.
Materials
- Milk Cotton Yarn (125g) in brown and green
- Crochet Hook (4/0 or 2.5mm)
- Hot glue gun (for attaching flowers)
- Decorative crochet flowers (e.g., sunflowers or forget-me-nots)

Pattern
Base (Brown Yarn)
- Round 1: Make a magic ring. Ch 2, 12 dc into the ring. Sl st to the first dc to join. (12 sts)
- Round 2: Ch 2. In the first st (where you joined), 1 dc. 1 dc in the same st. (This is an inc). Inc in each st around. Sl st to join. (24 sts)
- Round 3: Ch 2. 1 dc in next st, inc in next st. Repeat from * to * around. Sl st to join. (36 sts)
- Round 4: Ch 2. 1 dc in each of the next 2 sts, inc in next st. Repeat from * to * around. Sl st to join. (48 sts)
Body (Brown Yarn)
- Round 5: Ch 3. Working in the back loop only, 1 dc in each st around. Sl st to join. (48 sts)
- Round 6: Ch 3. 1 dc in each of the next 2 sts. 2 fpdc. 1 dc in each of the next 3 sts, 2 fpdc. Repeat from * to * around. (You will end with 2 fpdc and be missing one dc at the end). Sl st to join.
- Rounds 7-10: Ch 3. 1 dc in each of the next 2 sts. 2 fpdc (around the fpdc from the previous round). 1 dc in each of the next 3 sts, 2 fpdc. Repeat from * to * around. Sl st to join.
Netting (Green Yarn)
- Round 11: Attach green yarn to a fpdc section. Ch 3. Working in the front loop only, 1 dc in the same st. Ch 2, sl st into the dc you just made. Ch 3, sl st into the same st. Ch 3, 1 dc in the same st, ch 2, sl st into the dc, ch 3, sl st into the same st. Ch 3, skip 3 sts. Sl st into the next st (which should be a fpdc). Repeat from * to * around. You should have 10 of these “leaf” clusters. For the final connection, ch 4 and sl st to the first st of the round.

Top Edge & Strap
- Round 17: 2 sc into the chain space. Ch 1. 4 sc into the next chain space, ch 1. Repeat from * to * around. End with 2 sc in the first chain space to complete the first set of 4 sc. Sl st to join.
- Strap: Ch 3. Make 3 incomplete dc into the first st (leave the last loop of each on the hook), then yarn over and pull through all loops. Ch 3, make 3 incomplete dc into the first chain of the ch 3, yarn over and pull through all loops. Repeat this * to * until you have 15-18 clusters, depending on your desired length.
- Attaching the strap: Fold the bag in half to find the opposite side. Sl st the end of the strap to the top edge of the bag. Secure it firmly by weaving the end through several stitches.
Finishing
