Free Crochet Sunflower Swan Plushie Pattern for Summer
Author: Talha

As I promised, here is the FREE pattern to crochet the white duck version of the sunflower duck doll plushie. It is particularly for the fall and crocheted in fall colors. So, the yellow is swapped to dull yellow, the flower applique colors to the teal and black, with the white. I have also replaced the US instructions with the chart instructions so anybody can follow along. Features the same sunflower crown, knotted bow tie, dull aqua flower, and cute Mother duck look.

You can also crochet a smaller version using thin amigurumi cotton yarn as a child’s white swan duck plushie. This pattern and the assembly will be much easier to follow along with. The body is a low-sew bit for attaching the petals; you will definitely want a little more. Now, let me show you how to crochet this plush.

  • R2: 8 v (16)
  • R3: (1 x, 1 v) × 8 (24)
  • R4: 24 x (24)
  • R5: (1 x, 1 v, 1 x) × 8 (32)
  • R6–R10: 32 x around for 5 rounds (32)

  • R11: (1 x, 1 a) × 7 (14)
  • Fasten off and pack the body tightly with fiberfill.

3. Wings (Make 2)

Using White yarn. Work in a continuous spiral without joining.

  • R1: 6 x in MR (6)
  • R2: (1 x, 1 v) × 3 (9)
  • R3–R5: 9 x around for 3 rounds (9)
  • Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing. Do not stuff.

4. Legs (Make 2)

Using Orange yarn. Work in a continuous spiral.

  • R1: 6 x in MR (6)
  • R2–R4: 6 x around for 3 rounds (6)
  • R5: (1 x, 1 a) × 2 (4)
  • Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.

  • Turn the piece to work along the opposite side of the starting chain: 1 x, 1 v.
  • Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

6. Sunflower Wreath / Hood

Using Golden Yellow yarn to make 10 connected petals.

  • R1: 6 x in MR (6)
  • R2: (1 x, 1 v) × 3 (9)
  • R3: (2 x, 1 v) × 3 (12)
  • R4: 12 x (12)
  • R5: (1 x, 1 a) × 4 (8)

Assembly Note: Fasten off the first 9 petals, but keep the yarn attached to the 10th one. Flatten each petal and x through both layers using 4 stitches to seal them closed, joining all 10 petals in a row as you go.

  • Switch to Brown yarn. Leave a long tail before starting, and work 40 sl st along the bottom/inner edge of your connected petals to form the framing face band seen in the photo. Leave a long tail on the other side for tying.

7. Flower Crossbody Bag

Start with Brown yarn for the bag center.

  • R1: 5 x in MR, join with sl st, ch 1 (5)
  • R2: 5 v, join with sl st (10)
  • Switch to Teal (Blue-Green) yarn for the petals.
  • R3: ch 3, work a 5-F bobble stitch into that same space, ch 3, and sl st into the next stitch. Repeat this sequence 5 times around to make 5 large petals.
  • Fasten off, Teal. Attach Brown yarn to one side of the back of the flower, ch a strap long enough to loop diagonally across the duck’s chest, and anchor it to the opposite side of the flower.

Assembly & Finishing

  1. Main Assembly: Sew the head securely onto the body. Attach the white wings symmetrically to the sides, right around rounds 9 and 10. Sew the orange feet onto the bottom of the body.
  2. Face: Sew the orange beak directly centered between the safety eyes.
  3. Details: Wrap the sunflower crown snugly around the head, framing the face, and tie it securely under the chin using the brown yarn tails (tucking the extra ends inside the head).
  4. Bow: Take your twine/jute string and tie a neat little bow around the duck’s neck just under its beak.
  5. Accessory: Slip the teal flower bag strap over one wing so it hangs across its chest.
