Learn how to crochet this fleece yarn crochet baby fox plushie doll that you can crochet as a present for both summer and fall, in particular. We will use the bobble stitch to make the legs and arms no-sew. It has a big, long, and stuffed tail that will wave in the air as you attach it to your shoulder purse.

With the fuzzy yarn that I referred to as fleece yarn above, you can finish this fox plushie pretty quickly and get a store-bought finish. It is as easy as the crochet chubby fox plushie for which I have shared a pattern already. Even if you don’t find the fleece yarn, you can crochet it with the chenille yarn, and it will end up REALLY cuter. Crochet Miniature Fox Plush: Round-by-Round Pattern

Below is the free crochet pattern for the cute little fox keychain with the assembly in the end:

Materials

  • Fleece yarn also called the fuzz yarn (Main color/Orange) – approx. 50g
  • Fleece yarn (Secondary color/White) – approx. 30g
  • Milk cotton yarn – small amount for sewing
  • Crochet hook size 3.5 mm
  • Plastic safety eyes (5×7 mm)
  • Plastic safety nose (7×9 mm)
  • Keychain chain
  • Fiberfill stuffing
  • Craft glue or hot glue
  • Scissors and yarn needle

Abbreviations

  • MR: Magic Ring
  • ch: Chain
  • sc: Single crochet
  • hdc: Half double crochet
  • inc: Increase (2 single crochets in the same stitch)
  • dec: Decrease (single crochet 2 stitches together)
  • slst: Slip stitch
  • R: Round or Row
  • sts: Stitches

Crochet Pattern

Head Using the main color (Orange) fleece yarn:

  • R1: MR, 6sc, slst to join the round. (6 sts)
  • R2: ch 1, 6inc, slst to join. (12 sts)
  • R3: ch 1, repeat 6 times: (1sc, 1inc), slst to join. (18 sts)
  • R4: ch 1, 18sc, slst to join. (18 sts)
  • R5: ch 1, 5sc, 3inc, 2sc, 3inc, 5sc, slst to join. (24 sts) Change to White color fleece yarn:
  • R6: ch 1, 5sc, 3dec, 2sc, 3dec, 5sc, slst to join. (18 sts)
  • R7: ch 1, 18sc, slst to join. (18 sts)
  • R8: ch 1, repeat 6 times: (1sc, 1dec), slst to join. (12 sts) Stuff the head firmly with fiberfill. Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing. Use scissors to lightly trim the fur around the snout area to define and shape the muzzle.

Big Ears (Make 2) Using the main color (Orange) fleece yarn:

  • Row 1: ch 3, turn.
  • Row 2: Starting in the 2nd chain from the hook, work 1sc, then 1hdc in the next chain, ch 1. Cut the yarn and hide the tail.

Small Ears (Make 2) Using the White fleece yarn:

  • Create a slip knot, cut the yarn, and trim it carefully into a small, round shape to serve as the inner ear accent.

Body Using the main color (Orange) fleece yarn:

  • R1: ch 5, turn. Starting in the 2nd chain from the hook, work 3sc, 3sc in the last chain stitch (increase). Turn to work along the opposite side of the chain: 2sc, 1inc in the final loop, slst to join. (10 sts)
  • R2: ch 1, 3sc, 3inc, 2sc, 2inc, slst to join. (15 sts)
  • R3 – R4: ch 1, 15sc, slst to join. (15 sts)
  • R5: ch 1, 2sc, repeat 3 times: (2sc, 1dec), then 1sc, slst to join. (12 sts) Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Stuff the body lightly with fiberfill.

Legs and Arms (Make 4) Using the main color (Orange) fleece yarn:

  • R1: MR, 5sc, slst to join, ch 1. Cut the yarn and hide the tail.

Tail Start with the White fleece yarn:

  • R1: MR, 4sc, slst to join. (4 sts) Change to the main color (Orange) fleece yarn:
  • R2: ch 1, repeat 2 times: (1sc, 1inc), slst to join. (6 sts)
  • R3: ch 1, repeat 3 times: (1sc, 1inc), slst to join. (9 sts)
  • R4: ch 1, 9sc, slst to join. (9 sts)
  • R5: ch 1, repeat 3 times: (1sc, 1inc, 1sc), slst to join. (12 sts)
  • R6: ch 1, 12sc, slst to join. (12 sts)
  • R7: ch 1, repeat 3 times: (1sc, 1dec, 1sc), slst to join. (9 sts) Add a small amount of fiberfill stuffing into the middle section (around rounds 5 and 6) to create shape and volume.
  • R8: ch 1, repeat 3 times: (1sc, 1dec), slst to join, ch 1. Cut the yarn and hide the tail.

Assembly and Details

  1. Ears: Align the big ears on top of the head across rounds 3, 4, and 5. Use the milk cotton yarn and a needle to sew them securely into place. Glue the small white inner ear pieces onto the front of the big ears.
  2. Body to Head: Use the remaining long yarn tail from the body to sew it to the bottom of the trimmed head.
  3. Limbs and Tail: Sew the two arms to the upper sides of the body, the two legs near the bottom front of the body so the fox can sit, and the tail to the lower back of the body.
  4. Face: Use craft glue to attach the plastic safety eyes and the nose onto the trimmed white muzzle area.
  5. Keychain: Securely attach the keychain loop to the top center of the fox’s head.
