Are you left with a whole pack of spare sticky notes? Let’s upcycle them and make this DIY pastel pop pencil organizer and a COOL decoration for your craft table following these 7 simple steps. This is a stacking paper tube craft similar to the paper tube star pencil holder and can be finished with 32 sticky notes.
1 pack of sticky notes was bought and used to make this pencil holder which contains 3 x 3 notes with 6 pastel colors and 100 sheets.
So, you can save a lot of them for studies as well as other crafts such as the rainbow and cloud pencil holder, small origami and the cute snail craft. Kids can also easily make this pencil holder and have the MOST FUN summer activity for them. Now, I will show you in detail on how to make this craft!

Techniques Kids can learn: With this decoration craft, kids can learn the following techniques:
- Making a paper tube
- “log cabin” stacking method for projects DIY house
- efficient use of glue
Materials Used
- Square sticky notes in pastel colors (pink, yellow, blue, and purple) – we shall use it for both the tubes and the base!
- A thin wooden stick or skewer (for rolling).
- A glue stick
- White liquid craft glue (for assembling the basket).
DIY Sticky Note Colorful Basket: Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these step-by-step instructions to make the tube and basket out of sticky notes for this pastel rainbow pencil holder decoration:
Step 1: Preparing the Paper
Open your pack of of pastel sticky notes. Peel off a single square piece of paper to start making your first tube.
Step 2: Rolling the Paper Tubes
Place the wooden stick flat along one of the straight edges of the sticky note (not diagonally from the corner, I mean you can do that, too).
Tightly roll the paper around the wooden stick, rolling it straight up toward the opposite edge.
Step 3: Securing the Tubes
Right before you finish rolling to the very end, apply a line of adhesive using your glue stick along the paper.
Press it down to finish the tube, then slide the wooden stick out.
Repeat this to make a large batch of tubes in pink, yellow, blue, and purple.
Step 4: Base
Take a single pink sticky note and lay it flat. This will be the base of your basket.
Using your white liquid craft glue, draw a solid line of glue down two opposite, parallel edges of the sticky note.
Step 5: Placing the First Tubes
Press your first two pink paper tubes onto those two solid lines of wet glue. You now have two parallel tubes attached to your sticky note base.
Step 6: Building the Frame
From this point on, you will only need dots of glue! Apply a small dot of white liquid glue onto the four ends of the two pink tubes you just laid down.
Take two more pink tubes and place them perpendicularly across those glued ends to create a square frame.
Step 7: Stacking the Colorful Layers
Continue this “log cabin” stacking method to make the walls of the basket. Always apply small dots of glue to the corners of the previous layer before crisscrossing the next set of tubes.
Feels Difficult?
Start with a few layers of pink (2 should be good to go!), then move on to yellow, blue, and finally purple, stacking until your basket is complete!
And that’s how you can make this CUTE and girlish little paper tube basket!
